In our second day here in Tunis, the Knowledge Without Borders Tour was plunged into the chaotic but stimulating reality of post-insurrectional Tunisia. While the transitional government and the mainstream media try to give a vision of a pacified political situation, calling for order and normalization, the reality is that there are still many groups calling for the continuation of the revolutionary process.
In fact, at 10 a.m. this morning, we took part in a lively protest organized by the Neighborhood Committees for the Defense of the Revolution that happened on the now-famed Avenue Bourghiba. After assembling hundreds of people on the steps of the Municipal Theater and chanting slogans calling for the continuation of the revolution against the oppressive transitional government, the Committees were brutally attacked by militia groups armed with clubs and knives and secretly organized by the Minister of the Interior.
The repression here is being implemented through the use of unofficial squads of armed citizen in civilian attire who are hired and given free reign in the city squares; this is a strategy of low-intensity warfare similar to those that have been used in Latin America and elsewhere. The result is an unrestrained social violence aimed at creating political tensions without directly implicating the government itself. Arrests and veritable man hunts against activists and young people are continuing, especially against those who come from the countryside and who persist in their protests in Avenue Bourghiba even after the end of the last Casbah. Moreover, various people told us of an activist who was arrested and then raped in the police station.
Following this unreasonable violence, the demonstrators reassembled in front of the Ministry of Women and Social Affairs and then did in a sit-in in front of the UGTT, the Tunisian Workers’ Union calling for a general strike to support the continued revolutionary effort. These revolutionary committees, together with young activists, are working for real systemic change where political and economic powers are simply attempting to substitute the positions previously held by the Ben Ali entourage.
At the same time, an important demonstration of lawyers and magistrates took place in front of the Ministry of Justice calling for independent justice, freedom of expression and the end of government censorship, as well as the end of political persecution. A mainstream media information black-out has now been implemented, resulting in a real censorship surrounding all protests and demonstrations, with the exception of magistrates.
After this morning’s events, our delegation then proceeded to collect materials with various actors still working on the political scene here in the capital. The afternoon was rich in meetings, interviews and organizational encounters working towards a transnational Meeting envisioned for the coming fall here in Tunis.
Tomorrow, the delegation from the Knowledge Liberation Front will continue our militant research, deepening our understanding of this complex situation that Tunisian social movements are going through. Am zweiten Tag unserer Knowledge Without Borders (=Wissen ohne Grenzen) Tour stürzten wir uns hier in Tunis in die chaotische aber inspirierende Realität Tunesiens nach dem Aufstand. Während die Übergangsregierung und die Mainstream-Medien versuchen den Eindruck einer befriedeten politischen Situation zu vermitteln, welcher ein Aufruf zur Ordnung und Normalisierung ist, ist die Realität, das es immer noch viele Gruppen gibt, die zur Fortführung des revolutionären Prozesses aufrufen.
Heute um 10.00 Uhr morgens, nahmen wir an einem lebendigen Protest, der vom Nachbarschaftskommitee zur Verteidigung der Revolution organisiert wurde, auf der mittlerweile berühmten Avenue Bourghiba teil. Nachdem sich Hunderte von Leuten auf den Stufen des städtischen Theaters versammelt hatten und mit Parolen zur Fortführung der Revolution gegen die unterdrückende Übergangsregierung aufriefen, wurden die Kommitees brutal von mit Messern und Knüppeln bewaffneten Milizionären angegriffen. Diese sind inoffiziell vom Minister des Inneren organisiert.
Die Repression hier ist durch den Einsatz von inoffiziellen Einheiten bewaffneter Bürger in Zivil implementiert, die freie Hand in den Stadtteilen haben; dieses ist eine Strategie der unterschwelligen Kriegsführung, ähnlich der in Lateinamerika und anderen Ländern. Das Ergebnis ist eine unkontrollierte soziale Gewalt, die auf die Schaffung politischer Spannung abzielt und die nicht direkt auf die Regierung zurückzuführen ist. Diese setzt die Verhaftungen und die Jagd auf Aktivist_innen und junge Leute, besonders jene, die vom Land kommen und nach dem Ende von Casbah die Proteste in der Avenue Bourghiba weiterführen, fort.
Nach dieser unbegründeten Gewalt versammelten sich die Demonstrant_innen vor dem Ministerium für Frauen und Soziales wieder und machten anschließend ein Sit-in vor der UGTT, der Tunesischen Arbeiter_innengewerkschaft, und riefen zu einem Generalstreik zur Unterstützung der revolutionären Forderung auf.
Diese revolutionären Kommitees arbeiten mit den jungen Aktivist_innen zusammen für eine wirkliche Veränderung des Systems, bei der versucht wird, die politischen und wirtschaftlichen Machtpositionen, die zuvor von der Clique Ben Alis gehalten wurden, zu ersetzen.
Gleichzeitig fand am vormittag eine wichtige Demonstration von Anwält_innen und Richter_innen vor dem Ministerium für Justiz statt, in der sie eine unabhängige Justiz, Meinungsfreiheit, das Ende der Zensur durch die Regierung sowie das Ende der politischen Verfolgung, forderten. Mit Ausnahme der Informationen über die Demonstration der Jurist_innen, wird die Berichterstattung über Proteste und Demonstrationen in den Mainstreammedien völlig ausgelassen.
Nach diesen Ereignissen am Morgen begann unsere Delegation Materialien verschiedener Aktivist_innen, die immer noch an der politischen Szene hier in der Hauptstadt arbeiten, zu sammeln. Der Nachmittag war reich an Verabredungen, Interviews und Organisierungstreffen, um ein transnationales Treffen im kommenden Herbst in Tunis vorzubereiten.
Morgen wird unsere Delegation der KLF die Militanzanalyse weiterführen, um unser Verständnis von der komplexen Situation in der sich die Sozialen Bewegungnen in Tunesien befinden, zu vertiefen. In Zusammenarbeit mit vielen Gruppen die wir hier bereits getroffen haben, bringen wir die materielle Transnationalalisierung der Europäisch-Mediteranen Kämpfe auf den Weg...

Nella seconda giornata a Tunisi, il Liberation Without Borders Tour si e’ completamente immerso nella complessa e al contempo straordinaria realta’ della Tunisia post-insurrezionale. Mentre il governo di transizione e i media tentano di fornire una visione pacificata della fase in corso, il che significa un appello all’ordine e alla normalizzazione, la verita’ e’ quella di cui parlano i molti gruppi che rivendiacano la continuazione del processo rivoluzionario.
In questo quadro, intorno alle 10 di questa mattina abbiamo preso parte a una vivace protesta organizzata dai comitati di quartiere per la difesa della rivoluzione nell’ormai nota avenue Bourghiba. Nel giro di pochi minuti centinaia di persone si sono radunate sugli scalini del teatro municipale gridando slogan per la continuazione della rivoluzione e contro la repression del governo di transizione, gli attivisti e le attiviste dei comitati sono stati brutalmente attaccati dai gruppi della milizia armati di bastoni e coltelli e segretamente organizzati dal ministero degli interni. La repressione e’ infatti portata avanti attraverso l’utilizzo di squadristi in borghese: si tratta di una strategia di guerra a bassa intensita’ simile a quella visibile in America Latina e altrove. Il risultato e’ il dispiegamento di una violenza incontrollata finalizzata a creare tensioni politiche senza un apparente coinvolgimento del governo. Stanno continuandgli arresti e la caccia contro gli attivist e I giovani, specialmente quelli provenienti dalla campagna e che, dopo la fine della casbah, stanno proseguendo le proteste in avenue Borughiba. Varie persone ci hanno informato dell’infame storia di un attivista arrestato e stuprato in un commissariato di polizia.
Dopo il violento attacco, con altrettanta velocita’ i manifestanti si sono sciolti e ricompattati di fronte al ministero delle donne e degli affari sociali e poi davanti alla sede dell’UGTT, il sindacato tunisino, rivendicando la convocazione di uno sciopero generale in supporto alla continuazione del processo rivoluzionario. I comitati, insieme ai giovani attivisti, stanno costruendo una reale dinamica di trasformazione, laddove invece il potere politico ed economico sta semplicemente tentando di prendere le posizioni precdentemente occupate dal regime di Ben Ali.
Contemporaneamente, nella tarda mattinata c’e’ stata un’importante manifestazione di avvocati e masgitrati davanti al minister della giustizia rivendicando una giustizia indipendente, liberta’ di espressione, la fine della censura governativa e della persecuzione politica. Infatti, c’e’ un continuo black-out dell’informazione mainstream, ovvero una reale censura che circonda proteste e manifestazioni, a eccezione dei magistrati.
Dopo la mattinata di azioni, la nostra delegazione ha continuato a raccogliere materiali di inchiesta con le persone impegnate nella scena politica della capitale tunisina. Il pomeriggio e’ stato riempito di incontri, interviste e riunioni organizzative per la costruzione di un grande meeting transnazionale in Tunisia per il prossimo autunno.
Domani la delegazione del Knowledge liberation Front continuera’ la ricerca militante, approfondendo la conoscenza della complessa situazione che i movimenti sociali tunisini stanno attraversando. Au cours de notre deuxime journŽe ici ˆ Tunis, le Tour de LibŽration sans Frontires / Knowledge Liberation Tour a ŽtŽ immergŽ dans la rŽalitŽ chaotique mais stimulante de la Tunisie post-insurrectionnelle. Pendant que le gouvernement transitoire et les mŽdias mainstream essayent de construire l'image d'une situation politique pacifiŽe - un rappel ˆ l'ordre et ˆ la normalisation - la rŽalitŽ est celle qu'il y a, au contraire, plusieurs groupes qui poussent pour la continuation du processus rŽvolutionnaire.
En fait, ˆ 10h ce matin, nous avons pris part activement ˆ un sit-in organisŽ par les Conseils pour la Protection de la RŽvolution qui s'est dŽroulŽ sur les marches du ThŽ‰tre Municipal, sur la dŽsormais fameuse avenue Bourguiba. Aprs l'assemblŽe, des centaines de personnes qui chantaient des slogans appelant ˆ la continuation de la rŽvolution - les ComitŽs contre le gouvernement de transition oppresseur - ont ŽtŽ brutalement chargŽs par des groupes de milices armŽes de matraques et de couteaux, secrtement organisŽs par le Ministre de l'IntŽrieur.
La rŽpression est ici implŽmentŽe par l'usage massif d'escadrons de citoyens en civil, recrutŽs et armŽs, qui ont libre cours et le plein pouvoir des rues; c'est une stratŽgie de guerre ˆ basse intensitŽ semblable ˆ celles qui ont ŽtŽ pratiquŽes en AmŽrique Latine et ailleurs. Le rŽsultat en est une violence sociale incontr™lŽe qui vise ˆ crŽer de la tension politique sans directement impliquer le gouvernement-mme. Chaque jour, les arrestations et la chasse aux activistes continuent, surtout contre les jeunes qui viennent du pays et qui, aprs la fin de la Kasbah, ont continuŽ de protester, Avenue Bourguiba.
Plusieurs personnes nous ont confirmŽ lÕhistoire inf‰me dÕun activiste qui a ŽtŽ violŽ dans un commissariat.
A la suite de cette violence irraisonnable, les manifestants qui avaient couru de toutes parts se sont rŽassemblŽs devant le Ministre des Femmes et des Affaires Sociales et ont entamŽ un sit-in devant lÕUGTT, le Syndicat des Travailleurs Tunisiens, appelant une grve gŽnŽrale pour renforcer lÕeffort rŽvolutionnaire. Ces ComitŽs rŽvolutionnaires, ensemble avec des jeunes activistes, sont en train de travailler pour un changement rŽellement systŽmique, la o les pouvoirs Žconomiques et politiques tentent de se substituer aux positions prŽcŽdemment tenues par lÕentourage de Ben Ali.
En mme temps, dans la fin de matinŽe, a eu lieu une manifestation importante dÕavocats et de magistrats devant le Ministre de la Justice, pour revendiquer un une justice indŽpendante, la libertŽ dÕexpression et la fin de la censure gouvernementale, tout comme pour demander la fin de la persŽcution politique. MalgrŽ cela, il y a un black-out de lÕinformation de presse mainstream, et surtout une rŽelle censure autour des protestations et des manifestations, ˆ lÕexception de celle des magistrats.
Aprs les ŽvŽnements de ce matin, notre dŽlŽgation a procŽdŽ ˆ recueillir des matŽriaux issus de plusieurs acteurs de la scne politique de la capitale. LÕaprs-midi a ŽtŽ riche en rencontres, interviews et discussions sur la prŽparation dÕun Meeting transnational prŽvu pour lÕautomne prochain ici ˆ Tunis.

W rzeczywistosci jednak istnieje tutaj wiele grup wzywajacych do kontynuowania procesu rewolucyjnego.
O godzinie 10.00 wzielismy udzia³ w energicznym protescie zorganizowanym przez Dzielnicowe Komitety Obrony Rewolucji, maj¹cym miejsce na slynnej Avenue Bourghiba. Trwaja tu codzienne aresztowania i policyjne polowania na m;odych ludzi i aktywistow, szczegolnie tych, pochodz¹cych z terenow wiejskich, którzy brali udzial w okupacji Khasby, nastepnie kontynuuj¹c protesty na Avenue Bourghiba.
